East African Community

An international organization that seeks economic and political integration for member states. Originally established in 1967, it fell apart some years later and was re-established in 2000. It became a free trade zone for members. In 2010, it founded a common market for all goods and services across the borders of member states. It is in the process of establishing a single currency as well. Its members are Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
