a form of MARKETING aimed at obtaining and retaining customers where the supplier contacts customers directly without the use of a coventional DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL intermediary such as a SHOP. Forms of direct marketing include: MAIL ORDER, DIRECT MAIL, TELEPHONE SELLING, ELECTRONIC SHOPPING, INTERNET, FACTORY OUTLET.
