This DDES scheme remedies some anomalies of the DES97 model characteristic for the situations with insufficient grid resolution within the LES-like operating flow region.
6) describing the evolution of the DDES turbulent viscosity, point to a complex relationship involving different turbulent quantities exhibiting high level of coherence; it is recalled that in the LES method the grid size A influences very directly the final outcome (Eq.
Almost identical outcome is obtained with the VLES and DDES methods.
The time-averaging in case of the VLES simulation is performed for 15 Flow-Through-Times and 8 and 10 Flow-Through-Times for the DDES and PANS simulations respectively.
The predictive performance of the presently applied DDES, PANS and VLES models in capturing the aerodynamic properties of the AUDI A1 car model is illustrated in Figures 11-25.
The CFD simulations were performed as DDES based on the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations by using a one equation turbulence model introduced by Spalart and Allmaras [22] for sub-grid scale turbulence modeling.
