Cyrus Eaton

A Canadian-American industrialist and investor. He made his fortune in oil, electricity and later worked in automotives and railroads. Despite an early association with John D. Rockefeller, Eaton opposed "eastern financiers" whom he thought had too much influence in American capitalism. He lived from 1883 to 1979.
