Copyright
The right to distribute, copy, or change an original work for a limited period of time. A state grants copyright to the creator of the work, but the creator may assign or sell the right. During the time the copyright persists, one must (with some exceptions) receive permission from the owner to publish or distribute the copyrighted material. After a certain period of time, any person may distribute the work without permission. See also: Public domain.

Based on Paragraph 3 of Article 15, and Paragraph 4 of Article 4 of the Law on Copyrights and Related Rights, the Court established that musical compositions, broadcast during a radio program, do not in either way affect legal protection of that musical work, nor does the broadcast influence the respective right of an author to receive remuneration for such form of use of his composition.
The WIPO standing committee on copyrights and related rights started a three-day session in Geneva yesterday, examining a new broadcasting treaty, and the IFHA, of which Britain and Ireland are founder members, took up the cudgels against the threat of pirating by betting operators.
The Company acquired on 17 December 1997, from Music Avenue of America Corporation, all copyrights and related rights to a catalogue comprising over 200 master digital recordings and approximately 3,296 titles (the Music Avenue catalogue).
