Conveyance A written document transferring property from one owner to the next. Most often, conveyance is applied to real estate; that is, when one sells his/her house, he/she conveys the deed to the next owner. Conveyance may also apply, however, to the transfer of bulk commodities. Depending on local law and practice, all parties involved in a conveyance (or their attorneys) must be present and literally trade documents to effect the change in ownership.
