Commercial Trader
A trader who uses the futures market to hedge against current business activities. For example, if a trader invests in a commodity believing the price will increase, he/she may lock in futures contracts at a certain price in case he/she is wrong. The term is a designation used by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
