Closing Tick The number of stocks which closed higher than their previous trade minus the number of stocks whose closing prices were lower than their previous trade. A positive closing tick means that there was buying at the close and indicates strength, the opposite is true for a down closing tick. Notes: Those closing higher are called an uptick, while those closing lower are a downtick.See also: Arms Index, Tick Closing tick The net of the number of stocks whose closing prices are higher than their previous trades (uptick) against the number of stocks whose closing prices were lower than their previous trades (downtick). A positive closing tick indicates "buying at the close", or a bullish market; a negative closing tick indicates "selling at the close," or a bearish market. See: TRIN. |
