The overseas transportation of bulk cargo, which is a large amount of a commodity on a ship stored without a container, or in only a small container like a barrel or a small box. Bulk shippers charge fees (called bulk freight) for the service of transportation. Almost half of the world's merchant fleets are bulk carriers, which perform this service.
