Broadcast Music, Inc.
A nonprofit organization that collects royalties on the broadcast of music and distributes them to their composers and songwriters. The broadcast may occur on radio or television, in a nightclub, or elsewhere. It also issues licenses to organizations to broadcast this music in the first place. It was established in 1939 and has offices in seven locations across the United States.
