Broad Tape

Broad tape
An expanded version of the ticker tape, which is displayed on a screen in the board room of a brokerage firm and shows constantly updated financial information and news.

Broad Tape
A service provided by Dow Jones & Company to brokerages that gives information on securities trades. It derives its name from the large amount of information it provides (relative to ticker tape) and the fact that it is printed on wider paper than ticker tape.

broad tape
The machine over which Dow Jones & Company, Inc., provides current business news to brokerage houses and other subscribers. The term derives from the width of the paper on which this news is printed compared with the width of ticker tape.
