Block Group

Block Group
A location used by the U.S. Census Bureau where approximately 800 to 1,000 people live. As the name indicates, a block group is usually a collection of city blocks. It is a subdivision of a census tract and is the smallest geographical unit for which the Census reports data.

Alternately, in September, a federal judge in Orlando, Florida, ruled that it was illegal for the city of Orlando to block groups from feeding the hungry and homeless in a local park because it "violates activists' basic civil rights," according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Beginning in 2010, five-year estimates will be released for populations with less than 20,000 people, down to the census tract and block group level.
Extended Block Group of the Year was won by Thomas Gammell and Paul Maher (Cummins Turbo Technologies and Von Roll Isola).
