Strike Ballot
A referendum by members of a union to decide whether or not to declare a strike, which is a refusal to work in an attempt to force their employer to adopt better working conditions. Under labor laws in the United States, a union must inform the employer seven days before a strike ballot takes place, and the results must have independent verification if there are more than 50 employees affected.
