Background Investigation
The process of verifying information a job applicant gives on his/her resume or in an interview. Examples of tasks completed during a background investigation include calling previous employers and co-workers, and checking for a criminal history. Background investigations are most common in jobs involving significant responsibility, such handling a great deal of money or working with children.
