Caracas Stock Exchange Originally established in 1947 and merged with a competitor in 1974 to become the only securities exchange of Venezuela. Caracas Stock Exchange The only securities exchange in Venezuela. Completely electronic since 1992, it trades in both equity and debt instruments. The Caracas Stock Exchange has experienced significant declines since the 1990s, at one time only functioning by trading in Venezuelan government debt. Much trade that would otherwise happen on the Caracas Stock Exchange occurs through American Depository Receipt transactions, which occur on American exchanges, rather than the Caracas Stock Exchange.
