The ISO 4217 currency code for Belgian Franc.

BEF

ISO 4217 code for the Belgian franc. It traces its origins to the conquest of the Low Countries during the Napoleonic Wars. It has been pegged to a number of different currencies throughout its history and was one of the currencies in the Latin Monetary Union for a time. It was replaced by the euro in 2002.
