Bureau of Economic Analysis
An organization within the U.S. Department of Commerce that conducts research and statistics on the American economy. Perhaps most importantly, the BEA produces information on the American gross domestic product and balance of trade. It also researches foreign economies. Government policy and private investment decisions often are based on research from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. It should not be confused with the National Bureau of Economic Research.
