Axis of Evil

Iran, Iraq, and North Korea, labeled as such by U.S. President George W. Bush, who accused them of sponsoring terrorism and of pursuing nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. The term evoked the Axis Powers, against which the United States and other Allies fought in World War II. The term was criticized for implying coordination between the three nations when none existed.
