Austrian Shilling The former currency of Austria. It was introduced in 1945 following the Second World War, replacing the German Reichsmark. Under the Bretton Woods system, the schilling was pegged to a currency basket, and, after 1976, was tied to the Deutsche Mark. It ceased circulation in 2002 with the introduction of the euro.
