Australian Stock Exchange (ASX)
Australia's major securities market, formed when the six state stock exchanges (Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney stock exchanges) were merged in 1987.

Australian Stock Exchange
Now known as the Australian Securities Exchange; the largest securities exchange in Australia, established in 2006 as the result of a merger between the Australian Stock Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange. ASX is a publicly-traded company, and is traded on itself. The exchange is fully electronic and trades both stocks and derivatives. It co-regulates itself with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.
