Australian Securities and Investments Commission
An agency of the Australian government responsible for regulating corporations, investments, and insurance. Its goal is to protect consumers, creditors and investors from predatory or unfair business practices. Among other things, it co-regulates the Australian Securities Exchange. It was established in 1991 to consolidate several regulatory agencies that previously existed. It is based in Melbourne.
