Attachment Point

Attachment Point

The amount of money an insurer pays until the point at which supplemental insurance (which may come from another provider) begins to be paid. For example, if one purchases supplemental insurance with terms stating that coverage will begin after the policyholder's primary insurance exceeds $500,000 in claims, the attachment point is $500,000.
