Asset for asset swap

Creditors exchange the debt of one defaulting borrower for the debt of another defaulting borrower.

A swap in which two creditors exchange one or more defaulting debts each. Creditors do this in order to reduce the amount of debt on their books while at the same time increasing the amount of interest they are owed.
