An account for a government unit that is credited with the amount the legislature appropriates to that unit. The unit debits its appropriation account every time it spends money.

The committee reviewed and made detail scrutiny of the appropriation accounts of the departments of Agriculture, Livestock, Board of Revenue, Zakat Usher, Social Welfare and Cooperative for year 2004-05.
Councilors also unanimously cut $125,000 from the fiscal 2009 school appropriation account, of which $50,000 was for School Committee legal costs, $45,000 for contract adjustments, and $30,000 for electrical costs at three of the five schools.
