An agent who acts on behalf of an exporter. That is, the agent for exporter has the responsibility for opening up a new market for the exporter. He/she helps create or expand demand for the exporter's product. The agent generally also has information on local regulations and knows how to navigate them. He/she is paid a commission on the sales the exporter makes.
