Agency Plant

A company whose employees are represented by a union the employees are not required to join. That is, employees do not have to join the union in order to receive the higher wages and other perks of collective bargaining. Employees do not have to pay union dues, but must pay an agency fee, which is intended to cover the costs of collective bargaining. See also: Right to work.
