An insurance policy providing coverage in the event an accountant is involved in a lawsuit involving his/her professional conduct. That is, accountants liability insurance pays for the accountant's legal fees, and, if necessary, damages arising from a lawsuit. Many accountants purchase liability insurance to reduce their personal risk in case they make a mistake in their work.
