Acceleration Life Insurance
A life insurance policy that allows the policyholder to access a portion of the death benefit (usually about 25%) in the event of a catastrophic illness. The policy states which illnesses are eligible for this benefit. Acceleration life insurance allows the policyholder to pay for treatment of what may be a final illness while still providing for his/her beneficiaries after death. See also: Accelerated Option.
