The establishment of NPS areas absorbing state park lands has
sometimes led to charges of NPS "land grabbing," similar to
the time when National Forest or Bureau of Land Management lands had
been transferred to NPS. That hasn't gone over well with some members of
the academic community, who believe spending on athletics has gotten out
of control - particularly when the school is absorbing state budget
cuts. We assume
that attrition is an absorbing state in that neither individuals nor
their proxy respondents can return to the survey once they exit. |
