The more important of the two indices of securities traded in Jordan. It was created in 1992 and, as the name implies, weights for market capitalization, meaning price changes to more highly capitalized companies affect the Index more. It tracks about 70 stocks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange; this list is reevaluated each year.
