Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

An insurance policy that provides coverage if the policyholder (or his/her dependent) dies as the result of a non-work related accident. It differs from regular accidental death insurance in that it is effectively a rider one purchases through an employer providing a death benefit in addition to the one one would have received from a policy the employer offers to all employees. One may pay premiums through paycheck deductions.
